We pray for peace in Nigeria

In the wake of the most recent violence in Nigeria, Gradye Parsons and Linda Valentine call the church to prayer for the people of Nigeria.

In a land where there is a great deal of poverty,
where conflicts often arise over access to and control of scarce resources,
we pray for peace among people of different religions, ethnicities, and economic classes.

In particular,
may there be peace between Christians and Muslims, and
may they even become peacemakers.

We pray that God gives them the ability to follow Christ's example of peace,
in the midst of conflicts which can push them to choose sides and
sometimes encourage them to take up arms.
