For the second year in a row, A Season of Peace will offer Presbyterians an opportunity to deepen their pursuit of peace in congregations, small groups, families and themselves.

Beginning Sept. 8, A Season of Peace is a four-week pilgrimage that will provide resources such as a daily email of peace reflections, family activities, Bible studies, youth activities and an exciting intergenerational Peace Fair, all designed to engage the imagination and help Presbyterians of all ages live more fully into their calling as peacemakers. The season will culminate Oct. 6, a day traditionally known as World Communion Sunday and the day when many congregations receive the Peacemaking Offering.

The Peacemaking Offering, from the General Assembly’s adoption of Peacemaking: The Believers’ Calling in 1983, seeks to promote the peace of Christ throughout the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Fifty percent of all gifts made to the offering support the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program, with the remaining fifty percent being split between each participating congregation and its presbytery for use towards local and regional peacemaking initiatives.

About the PC(USA) Special Offerings:

Through the four churchwide Special Offerings, Presbyterians can help meet the needs of our sisters and brothers around the world. Whether by helping a community recover in the wake of a disaster, assisting a pastor's family in their time of personal crisis, or making peace in classrooms by helping to prevent bullying, our gifts to the Special Offerings continue to be a strong catalyst for positive transformation in the lives of others and serve as a visible witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
