Engage your congregation or study group about Fair Trade. Every purchase joins with other purchases to make a difference in the lives of small-scale artisans and farmers all over the world. Put faith in action by learning about Fair Trade, praying for artisans and farmers and the struggles they face, and shifting some of your purchases, as well as those of your family and your congregation, to benefit Fair Trade farmers and artisans.

Download speech from an Equal Exchange co-founder: Last fall, Rink Dickinson delivered a speech reflecting on Fair Trade and analyzing recent developments in the movement. Over 25 years’ worth of gains in Fair Trade (which aims to support small-scale, marginalized and impoverished farmers) are at risk as corporations have begun to dominate the movement. While we would like to be able to celebrate corporations’ support of fair wages and community development, in recent months this has led to an overall lowering of Fair Trade certification standards, actually undermining the very people Fair Trade was meant to help.
