free cancer screenings in armenia
Armenia has the highest mortality rate for breast cancer in the world, according to the World Health Organization. Oncologists working in Armenia report that most cases have already advanced by the time they are detected, taking the lives of 720 women each year.
A late cancer diagnosis is deadly. Thousands of women, especially in remote villages, have no access to life-saving cancer screenings and prevention because of poverty and limited qualified diagnostic services.
The Jinishian Memorial Program has identified women’s health as a high priority and chosen to make an immediate impact. Our newest program brings free screenings to women in Vardenis who otherwise have no other access to care.
We have partnered with the Armenian-Canadian Health Care Center to bring free cancer screenings to women in remote villages of Vardenis—one of the most neglected areas in the country, with an extremely poor population, most of whom were displaced from Azerbaijan.
This initiative is funded solely with new donations. For every $42 donated, one woman will receive a free screening for breast and cervical cancers, a gynecological exam, and professional follow-up consultation. Those with identified cases will be referred for lab testing and treatment at specialized clinics as needed.
Each gift of $42 has the potential to save one more life. Thank you for your support allowing us to launch this important new project!
