Calls to Confession

All of these Calls to Confession may be spoken from the font.

Have you longed for renewal?
Come to the waters.
Do you ache for healing?
Come to the waters.
Are you waiting for reconciliation?
Come to the waters.

Redemption is near
to all who call on the name of the Lord.
In the waters of baptism,
God’s abundant mercies are poured out for us.

The water reminds us who we are
and to whom we belong,
so that, confident of God’s great love for us,
we can admit where we have failed our Maker and Savior.
Together, let us confess our need of grace.

To confess our sin each week
and hear again the promise of God’s mercy,
is to be reminded of our baptism
by which we were once and for all
set free from bondage to sin
and given a new life to live
in the sure grace of our God in Christ Jesus.
Confident that we belong to God as beloved children,
let us confess together our sin.

Trusting the abundant mercy of God
which has been poured out for us,
let us confess our sin before God and one another.

We approach the font of our identity
confident of God’s grace and mercy toward us,
yet needing to turn once again toward God
in order to confess the ways we have turned away from God.

The grace of God is an abundant feast,
spread for all people.
The love of God is a deep fountain,
overflowing in the world.
Trusting in God’s abundant grace and deep love,
let us confess our sin.

Hear the word of God through the prophet Isaiah:
Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean;
remove the evil of your doings from before me;
cease to do evil, learn to do good;
seek justice, rescue the oppressed,
defend the orphan, plead for the widow.
Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbors,
confident in God's steadfast love. (Isaiah 1)

Let everyone who is thirsty come.
Let anyone who wishes take the water of life as a gift.
The grace of God flows freely here.
With penitence and faith, let us confess our sin. (Revelation 22)
