Invitations to Prayer

All of these Invitations to Prayer may be spoken from the table, as an introduction to the Prayers of the People.

As God provided manna in the wilderness
for the people of Israel,
God still provides our daily bread.
With confidence in God’s abundant grace,
let us pray for the needs of all. (Exodus 16)

Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given you;
search, and you will find;
knock, and the door will be opened.
Is there anyone among you who,
if your child asks for bread, will give a stone?
Boldly, then, as children of God,
let us pray to the giver of every good thing. (Matthew 7)

Jesus said, “I am the bread of life.
Whoever comes to me will never be hungry,
and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
Believing in Christ,
who sustains us and satisfies our every need,
let us pray for the church and the world. (John 6)
