A letter from James and Nancy Adams in the U.S., returning to serve in Germany
december 2014 - scripture memory
"Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays" can mean so many different things for each of us. No need to list them all—perhaps you feel like Bartimaeus, or the woman at the well, or...to which person Jesus touched in the Bible are you currently feeling most connected? Write and tell us!
A random question for you before the New Year's resolutions begin: Which magazine do you (will you) grab off the rack at the "Y" or fitness center where you work out?
Finance...Health...Pop Culture...Op-ed...Travel...one can learn how to rehab their knee, their home, their retirement plan or their heart. As one adult to another, let me propose Scripture Memory.
Each year at Black Forest Academy I lead Chapel for the (loud and dynamic) middle school. As I quote the 60 verses of the Navigator Topical Memory System each student shouts back to me, in front of the 100 students and teachers in the room, a verse they've memorized. It's a competition in which everyone receives more than they give (including German chocolate sweeter than the honeycomb, Psalm 19:10).
It's Christmas and more than ever, I know I need a Savior. Scripture Memory assures me of forgiveness and peace with God.
The Christmas Season will seem brighter, the joy deeper, and goodwill toward men and women more possible by the indwelling Holy Spirit.
Nothing will renew our minds and hearts like Scripture memory and review. Let's take Scripture with us to the gym...or simply outside for a walk.
Nancy and I return to Germany on January 3 to serve missionary kids and German teens at Black Forest Academy (BFA). Nancy resumes her role as head librarian. I'll continue to lead engaging partnerships with local German schools and Black Forest Academy.
Praise God for providing housing in Seattle this past year and now, in Kandern, a small 550-square-foot apartment beginning January 2015.
We are not homeless! However, we do invite you to continue in your financial support of our ministry to BFA students as well as the ministry to the Roma People in Romania.
Churches can send contributions through your congregation’s normal receiving site (this is usually your presbytery) to:
