Letter from Bryce and Phyllis Little

April 2002

Dear Friends and Loved Ones,

Greetings to all of you! Our big news is that we both retired on June 30, 2001, and as we had been warned, we have been busy.

We started our retirement by going to Sacramento to get acquainted with our new granddaughter, Johanna Marie, born June 28 (Bryce’s birthday) to Andy and Kathy, joining Becca (7 years and Amy (3 years). They are doing well. Andy is working as an engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers and Kathy is enjoying being a full-time mom.

We went to Vietnam in August to do training of pastors of house churches. It is exciting to see how God is working there! We spent mid-August to mid-September helping Susan with Christopher (3 years) during the busy time in the legislature. She is a legislative assistant for a California State Assemblywoman. In October, we spent three weeks in China on a Presbyterian study tour, acquainting ourselves with the Church of Christ in China and meeting many of its leaders.

Christmas brought everyone here to Southern California. We had a wonderful time with our children and seven grandchildren.

Bryce III and Raeanne, with Nathaniel (9 years) and Isabel (6 years) still live in Anaheim Hills where Raeanne is an elementary teacher and Bryce III is contract manager for the East San Gabriel Corridor Project.

Our big family event of the year was the lovely wedding of Lynda and Robert Redd on April 7. The whole family participated. Bryce officiated; Sydney was the flower girl; Christopher ring-bearer; Andy gave the bride away; Susan was a bridesmaid; Bryce III ushered; Nathaniel lit the candles; and Becca and Isabel passed out the programs with Raeanne’s supervision. Kathy and Amy were active observers. Robert continues as senior director of marketing for a record company; Lynda enjoys being a full-time mom caring for Sydney (5 years). They will present us with our eighth grandchild in July.

We have been appointed as international volunteers for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to serve as regional facilitators in Spain and Portugal, where we will explore, with the leaders of the Evangelical Church of Spain and the Presbyterian Church of Portugal, how we can serve together in the mission of the church. We will also be doing some more work in Vietnam and some consulting on new church development with presbyteries in the United States. We are excited about this opportunity. We started our life together in the world mission of the church 41 years ago and feel that we are coming full circle. We will be needing support to cover basic expenses. Should you wish to help, you may send contributions to PC(USA), Section 300, 100 Witherspoon Street, Louisville, KY, 40289. Please write our names and ECO# 074383 on your check. All contributions are tax deductible.

Please pray for us in this new ministry. We pray for God’s blessing on each of you as you go about your daily life.

Affectionately,

Bryce and Phyllis Little
