My name is Abby Sepanski and I am from Auburn, AL where I have lived for the past 14 years. I am proud to call First Presbyterian Church of Auburn my home church, where I have spent the past four years as a member and the past two years working as a Senior High Youth Director. I will be graduating from Auburn University at the beginning of August with a Secondary Social Science Education degree. One day I hope to teach kids in middle or high school, as I am very passionate about working with youth. The YAV program came to my attention a few years ago when a member of our college UKirk Auburn group completed a year in Ireland. I really started to consider the program after attending the 2014 Montreat College Conference and learned more about it. The idea of working with people in need really interests me, because it is important to recognize that not everyone is privileged and it is important to treat all people with respect. I am excited to be moving to a new place for the first time on my own, and I am most excited to be serving as a 2015-2016 Young Adult Volunteer for Hands and Feet of Asheville. It has been my dream to move to Asheville for a while now, and I cannot wait to see what experiences this year will bring me!
