My name is Rachel Smith, and I am a soup cellar volunteer, preacher’s kid, amateur cook and baker, enthusiastic biography reader, homelessness researcher, avid traveler, and, most importantly, a child of our living God.  I am 22 years old and graduated from the University of South Carolina in May of 2016 with a degree in International Studies.  I focused on human rights and minored in Geography and Business.  I was born and raised in Columbia, SC and have the most amazing parents, older brother, and younger sister.  I am a member of Eastminster Presbyterian in Columbia and love being a part of this wonderful church family.  Throughout college I found joy in helping to develop a food pantry for students on campus, working to research homelessness in Columbia, hanging out and having life chats with friends, co-teaching a freshman seminar course, studying human rights in India, and getting involved in church and campus ministries.  I am beyond excited to be serving next year in Glasgow, Scotland and to have the opportunity to learn from the people there and broaden my perspective.  I cannot wait to see the plans God has, and I thank you all for your continued prayers and support.
