“Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” — Luke 23:42

The village woman

By Angelica Michail

The husband beats her,

the menfolk taunt her,

the villagers mock her.

God’s people come and show her the road of HOPE.

She works by day and studies by night,

she learns to read and write.

She reveals her innate intelligence and talent,

she earns a living, she saves, she helps others,

as God’s people help her.

No longer feeling like an outcast,

She reveals a smile; she is now confident.

She is a new Village Woman.

Angelica traveled to India in October 2011 with Presbyterian Women’s Global Exchange.
