Complete a Gender Equity Audit
A helpful assessment tool for Congregations and Mid Councils
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is committed to gender justice and intentional change that encourages the full participation of women in the leadership of the church. In adopting the report Hearing and Singing New Songs to God: Shunning Old Discords and Sharing New Harmonies, the 218th General Assembly (2008) called for the church to be transformed by focusing on the intersections of gender, race, power and privilege.
Gender Equity Audits allow the church to assess its partnership in this effort. A gender equity audit is a tool to collect comprehensive, accurate and timely information on the status of women in an organization. This tool has been specifically designed to assess the implementation of policies and procedures related to achieving gender and racial equality in the PC(USA.).
We strongly encourage congregations, mid councils, and the larger church to use the results of this audit in prayerful discernment as you plan for the future.

“A concern for inclusive language bespeaks the church’s emerging conviction both that the diversity of the people of God is to be acknowledged and embraced in such a way that all may feel included, as well as the realization that every reference to God is limited in its capacity to express the reality and mystery of the One who has so variously encountered us.”
