Carol and Glen Hallead

Email: Glen Hallead

Glen and Carol ended their service in October, 2008. They are no longer under appointment as PC(USA) mission co-workers. They are available to speak as their schedule permits. Email them to extend an invitation to visit your congregation or organization.

After serving from 2000 until mid-2006 with the Christian Church in Thailand (CCT), mission co-workers Glen and Carol Hallead were reassigned to Ghana, where Glen serves as PC(USA)’s regional liaison West Africa. Together, Glen and Carol coordinate the Young Adult Volunteer site.

As regional liaison, Glen facilitates relationships between the PC(USA) and its partner churches and institutions in Ghana, Niger, and Nigeria. He also provides support for PC(USA) mission personnel and is a resource for U.S. congregations who are in relationship with one of our partners in the region.

As the Young Adult Volunteer program site coordinators, Glen and Carol share responsibility for the training, placement, and pastoral oversight of Young Adult Volunteers (YAVs) working with the PC(USA)’s two partner churches, the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana.

During their six years in Thailand, the Halleads coordinated volunteers for the CCT, placing recent college graduates in English-teaching positions at the 24 primary and secondary schools of the CCT. For several years they were also site coordinators for the PC(USA)&rasquo;s Young Adult Volunteer site in Thailand.

Prior to their ministries in Thailand and Ghana, the Halleads served churches in Utica, Illinois (Waltham Presbyterian Church, 1990-94 and 1995-99), and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1986-1990).

The Halleads previously served with the PC(USA) as mission workers in Africa in 1994 and 1995, when Glen was the partnership facilitator for the Presbyterian Church of East Africa during the PC(USA)’s “Year with Africa,” and Carol provided ministry through the home.

Glen holds a B.S. in cultural anthropology from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, and an M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. Carol also attended Central Michigan University and holds executive, medical and legal secretarial certificates.

Carol is an ordained deacon and has been a choir member, flutist, Sunday school teacher and youth group advisor. Glen is a clergy member of Blackhawk Presbytery. Carol and Glen are the parents of four children, Zachary, Natalie, Jacob and Caleb.
