A thank you letter from L.J.

L.J's letter included a photo. In August 2009, a Jinishian Memorial Program–Lebanon (JMP) social worker received a very touching thank-you letter. In November 2008, JMP helped first-born L.J. receive a cochlear implant. In addition to a small financial contribution from JMP, the social worker was able to raise additional funds from organizations with similar goals. With limited resources, JMP staff uses their networking skills to find the means to assist the families most in need.

My name is L.J. I was born on August 7, 2007. Ever since I was in my mother’s womb, I could not hear a thing. My daddy, N., and my mother, K., would always speak to me and hold up toys that made sounds to my mother’s belly for me to hear, but I was unable to hear anything.

After my birth my parents learned that I was deaf. This was shocking news and my parents became sad and depressed. They took me to Dr. N. He was a very nice person. I love him so much. He took very good care of me. The operation took place in a hospital on Monday, December 15, 2008.

Besides my doctor, without your help, your kind support, your generous donations and your prayers, my recovery would have been impossible.

I am hugging all those who helped me and supported my family financially to make the operation a reality so that I could hear as other babies do. Dr. Nehmeh promised me that after a few months I would be able to hear the voice of my mother, daddy and cousins. I will even be able to hear the sound of my toys and the television, and that will be amazing.

Many thanks to all of you.

Big Kisses,
L.J., through her mother
