A letter from Kay Day in transition from Malawi to Rwanda

Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, rejoice.—Phil. 4:6
Dear Friends and Family,
This verse of Scripture is one of my favorites. It is sometimes easier to recite than it is to practice. Over the past few months, as I have been seeking God’s direction, as my life has taken twists and turns I had not planned, I have clung to this verse. But today I am practicing it with great joy. I invite you to rejoice with me. God has made his plans clear for my immediate future. I will be going to Butare, Rwanda, where I will be teaching theology and English at the theological college there. This is wonderful answer to your prayers with me and for me over these months. I rejoice in God’s answer and I rejoice in your love and care in standing with me in prayer for this direction. Thank you!
The plan is that I will go to Rwanda in time for Easter and begin to teach shortly thereafter. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am about all of this. It is much faster than I had expected. This will change some plans I had made with some of you. I am hopeful that we can adjust some things and that many of us will be able to connect while I am still here in the States. It is my desire to see as many of you as possible. If we cannot adjust schedules at present, we will trust God for his perfect timing for the future. I am eager to share with you via Skype, via phone conversation, or via email about details of this assignment in the next weeks before I leave. I am even more convinced than I was when I left Malawi that God has a plan and a time for all things. We need only to trust him.
I pray that you are open to continue to partner with me in prayer in this new adventure. I know that some of you are connected with me because of Malawi and if you wish to bid farewell as part of my prayer team at this time, I will certainly understand. But maybe God will lead you continue to join me in prayer in this new adventure, even though you are committed to Malawi. There is no other PC(USA) mission co-worker in Rwanda at this time. There hasn’t been for almost 10 years. So this is an opportunity to build new relationships and partnerships, something the church in Rwanda is eager for. I invite you to join in prayer for this new work, for me as I get settled and learn a new culture and a new language, as I meet new people and build new relationships. In the midst of all the new, I know that some things remain the same. God is the same. His love, his grace, his provision, and his church are the same. I cling to that. I ask you to pray with me for these new beginnings, for these people who will become a part of my life and I will become part of theirs. Please pray for the details of this time of transition. And above all, rejoice with me in all that God is doing.
