Brett and Shelly Faucett
Brett and Shelly ended mission service with the PC(USA) in 2010.
Brett and Shelly Faucett were appointed in July 2007 to serve as regional consultants for health and HIV/AIDS in Asia. They make their home in Chiang Mai, Thailand. They serve in Thailand at the invitation of the Christian Church in Thailand.
The Faucetts respond to requests for technical assistance from PC(USA) partner churches and institutions throughout Asia. They are charged with developing strategies and activities that promote healthy communities and provide a comprehensive response to the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
Though under appointment for the first time by the PC(USA), the Faucetts are not new to service abroad. They worked in Moldova as health education instructions for the U.S. Peace Corps from 1998 to 2000. They have done short-term volunteer work both in Cambodia and Thailand and have traveled in more than 40 countries, including extensive travel in Southeast Asia and Africa.
Prior to appointment, Shelly was a literacy specialist with the Huntington Beach Public Library’s Literacy Department in Huntington Beach, California, and Brett was a registered nurse in Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital in Newport Beach, California.
Shelly has a bachelor’s degree in literature from the University of California at San Diego and is certified as a literacy specialist and instructor, a teacher of English as a second language, an HIV/AIDS instructor and an emergency medical technician.
Brett has an associate degree in nursing from Maric College in San Diego, California. He is a registered nurse and a certified instructor of HIV/AIDS education.
The Faucetts are members of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, California.
