A letter from Susie Frerichs in Frijolillo, San Martin Chalchicuahutla, San Luis Potosí, Mexico
February 18, 2010
Dear Friends,
This is a quick note to ask for your prayers also for a community in the state of Chiapas, called Agua Azul where there was massacre of Presbyterians by vigilante groups just last week. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the National Presbyterian Church of Mexico are working on documents to be sent to the Mexican government in order to pressure them to do more to ensure the religious freedoms of Protestants in Mexico. Please pray for the process, for the Mexican governments (usually it is a local and state problem), and for those affected in Agua Azul. Thank you too for your prayers for Martin and his family in Cuamecaco. I do not have an update other than that his wife and baby have left the community as well. They are Baptists (some of you thought they were Presbyterian). At any rate, next week I hope to write a longer message in which I will describe the religious liberties problems in rural Mexico so you can have a better understanding of what is going on ... and maybe ways you can help. Please be patient with me. Too many fires going between now and next Thursday, but I will write more soon.
Blessings!
Susie
