A letter from Chris McReynolds on the U.S.-Mexico border

May 7, 2009

Amistad prayer update

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and request. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:18

Please, join Proyecto Amistad and churches of Noreste Presbytery of Mexico in praying for the following:

  • Pray for an end to the influenza affecting Mexico, the United States, and other countries. Pray that the reconvening of classes this Monday here in Mexico will not increase flu cases. Health officials in Mexico believe the flu is on the decline. Forty-four deaths have been reported and 1,160 cases confirmed in Mexico. No cases have been reported in Nuevo Laredo, where Proyecto Amistad is located.
  • Give thanks for the United Church of Christ of North Hampton, which worked and fellowshipped with their partner church, Victoria en Jesucristo, of Nuevo Laredo, last week. They did lots of hard work building a fence around the mission, and longstanding friendships continued. Children’s Day and other activities were cancelled due to the threat of swine flu.
  • Please pray for Roberto’s son, Ruben, who will have oral surgery tomorrow to remove a molar and two front teeth.
  • Join Gloria and Guillermo of Victoria en Jesucristo, Nuevo Laredo, who after 17 years of applying for government housing, have finally received a house. Many people in Mexico apply for homes through a government credit program.
  • Pray for Uno en el Espiritu Presbyterian Church of Piedras Negras—for strength for the church and for security of the city. The city’s police chief was recently assassinated, causing a lot of anxiety among the citizens.

Orando en todo tiempo con toda oración y súplica en el Espíritu, y velando en ello con toda perseverancia y súplica por todos los santos
Efesios 6:18
