A letter from Chris McReynolds on the U.S.-Mexico border

January 28, 2010

Amistad Prayer Update

“It was in him that the full nature of God chose to live, and through him God planned to reconcile to his own person everything on earth and everything in Heaven, making peace by virtue of Christ’s death on the cross.” (Colossians 1:19-20)

Please, continue praying with us this year as we live out God’s Kingdom along the U.S./México border in northeastern México and beyond. Your prayers for, and with, our brothers and sisters of Noreste Presbytery are transforming lives and guiding ministries.

This month we ask you to pray for the presbytery meeting here this Saturday in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, and also for the pastor’s conference here on Friday evening. The meeting will be hosted by Victoria en Jesucristo Mission Church (see photo). Pray that the 50 or so pastors and members in attendance will be energized, inspired, and blessed as they continue serving communities where many people are loyal to, and blinded by, traditions in which they reject the gospel of Jesus Christ or, as in many cases, have never really heard the good news of the Savior.

We ask you to pray for ongoing work as Proyecto Amistad and churches within Noreste Presbytery establish transformative Christian education programs for children within their churches and communities. These programs require tremendous commitment by the churches and we need your prayers as we train teachers and equip the programs. Ask God for continued protection and guidance for this work.

The pastor’s conference was held here at the Victoria en Jesucristo Mission Church.

We ask for you to pray for healing for Ruby Medina, Felix Davila Jr., Diana Hernandez, Ninfa Mejia, Alexandrina Shakelford, Sarita Tamay Ché, and safe travels for Susie Frerichs, who is traveling back to her work in the Presbytery of the Huastecas in central México after a brief trip to San Antonio, Texas.

Please, join in continued prayers with Noreste Presbytery congregations as they pray for the people of Haiti and the recovery efforts.

por cuanto agradó al Padre que en él habitase toda plenitud, y por medio de él reconciliar consigo todas las cosas, así las que están en la tierra como las que están en los cielos, haciendo la paz mediante la sangre de su cruz.” (Colosenses 1.19-20)
