Amistad Prayer Update
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness ...” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
We ask for your prayers for Magda and her two little girls and husband, Julio. Magda’s husband and two of his friends have been missing for over two weeks now. The men went fishing about an hour south of Nuevo Laredo, México, and the last word from one of the men in the group, by cell phone to his girlfriend, was that they were being chased by car and shot at and that one of them was wounded. It is said that drug traffickers have caused most residents to abandon their homes and businesses in that area. Magda said at worship that “God has not left her side through this whole ordeal.”
Pray for Ebenezer Church of Nuevo Laredo as Amistad helps them prepare for their opening day of Club Amistad this Saturday. Opening day at Puerta del Cielo Church was last Saturday with 36 children signed up for the Christian education program. A lot of planning and commitment of time and effort has been undertaken by these local churches. Pray for our partnership with them and these children.
Please pray for missionary Anita Torres’ family as they recover from flooding in Vera Cruz. Anita and her sister Avelina have returned temporarily to Vera Cruz from Nuevo Laredo to help their elderly parents clean out their home, which was flooded to roof level. Thankfully her parents were not living in the home at the time. Pray for protection of the many thousands of people experiencing ongoing flooding in southern México.
Pray especially for México celebrating its Bicentennial of independence from Spain and Centennial celebration of the Revolution. You can read more and see many historical images at the Mexican government web site.
“Y me ha dicho: Bástate mi gracia; porque mi poder se perfecciona en la debilidad ...” (2 Corinthians 12.9)
