Summer courses continue at Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico, providing a range of options
Theological education is moving full steam ahead during the summer at Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico.
Already a full slate of courses is under way at the institution, and July will welcome even more offerings. Session II for the summer will take place July 1–12 at the seminary, whose mission is to contribute to the formation of men and women to serve in Christian ministry and to participate in the mission of God’s people in Puerto Rico and the Americas.
Four classes that cover a range of study are available: “Research Techniques,” taught by Milka Vigo; “Foundation of Sexual Education I,” taught by Gloria Mock; “Pastoral Counseling,” taught by Marysol Diaz; and “The Divine Spirit and the Human Brain,” taught by Carmelo Santos Rolon.
Each of these courses fits strategically with the vision of the seminary, which is in covenant with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). That vision, as outlined on the institution’s website, is to continue the tradition of excellence at the seminary, to adequately respond to the educational and training needs of pastoral and lay leadership of the church, and to affirm the importance of transforming theological education.
“We serve with efficiency and effectiveness in fulfilling our mission, which involves developing teaching and administrative management focused on quality, contextuality, and globalization to meet the needs of students, faculty, and community churches,” the seminary says.
The seminary works to maintain an organization, programs, physical facilities, and systems that allow it to respond quickly to a dynamic, changing, and competitive world that is rich in information, challenges, and opportunities.
