A letter from Jacob and Aliamma George on home assignment from South Sudan

1st Chronicles 29:11-12: “Yours, O Lord, is the Kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are the strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.”
A Mother and a son whom we met in Pittsburgh at the gathering. This new friend is getting healed through God's grace and he promised continuous prayers for South Sudan.
When we returned to the U.S. for a couple of months for our home assignment, we had to readjust our thought process. It was a big change, having plenty of clean water, electricity, food items, neatly cut green lawn, plants, flowers, roads with signboards, GPS, fridge, easy cooking, air conditioning, and many other conveniences of life.
When we arrived, we had a dream of making a difference in at least one person’s life in our community. There is a dry cleaning place near our home where Jacob took his suits and Mr. Z used to wait for his return for the pickup so that he can ventilate his problems. They used to discuss multiple topics and then reached spiritual aspects. Mr. Z came to the conclusion that the true peace is not the absence of war or fighting but the presence of God, whether it is at home, the workplace, or the community or country. Mr. Z said he would use that principle in his shop since he used to get frustrated with his customers and the boss. He is thankful for the friendship and fellowship. When Aliamma visited the place, Mr. Z asked her to discourage Jacob from going that far away, but to stay around and give advice to people here. Then we could explain all about our Great Commission!

We received good hospitality, listening ears, words of wisdom, and encouragement. It is impossible to do all that we would like to, but we are thankful for each and every visit. Each of you is a gift! Thank you for the promises to help South Sudan in different ways, and may God bless you. It was amazing to hear children between 6 and 8 years asking questions in Sunday School at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Detroit. The Vacation Bible School of Trinity Marthoma Church had more than about hundred students between the ages of 4 and 18 showing great interest in learning about South Sudan, and also Sunday School students in Immanuel Marthoma Church promised continued prayers for peace and support in the future. Elder Bill Andres, who had visited our Giffen Institute of Theology, made a great effort to get 50 Bibles for our new students from Sax Gotha Presbyterian Church, South Carolina. Another friend from our presbytery is sending 50 small flashlights for our students so they do not need to use up their phone batteries at night for light! Pray that these suitcases will reach safely.
We are sorry we cannot mention each person or place because we visited 36 places in the U.S.A. (congregations, prayer groups, fellowship groups, Sunday Schools, women's groups, family groups, and young adults). Our home presbytery arranged for a Mission Festival day and commissioned us for the next three years of service, which was a touching experience.
We appreciate each one of you for your encouragement, prayers and support of different types! Please continue to walk with us for greater adventures in our Giffen Bible School teaching, Community Health Evangelism, women and girls and boys empowerment, home visits and family strengthening. Though there may be challenges, know that there will be great reward when we do it together!
The Bible tells us to work while we can, save what we can, and share when we can and trust God to meet our needs. Let us rely on the Holy Spirit's power to bring redeeming Christ to a hurting country. If any of you have not had a chance to help yet, please join us in witnessing the life-changing power of Christ to bring peace and justice in South Sudan. We are hoping to be in our destination in a week.
