Erik Sandstrom
Starting in 2004, as a middle school student I became interested in mission work. In my freshman year in high school I volunteered through my church, Second Presbyterian (Indianapolis, IN), and went to Rochester, PA to work with Hosanna Industries. There, I diserned my call to mission work. As I continued my journey I have done mission work in places including, Slidell, LA for hurricane Katrina relief; Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago; Broken Arrow and Broken Bow, OK; Playa del Carmen, Mexico; and Uganda, Africa.
After all those experiences I decided to attend college with a major in Youth Ministry and a minor in Leadership. Unfortunatly, much like Jonah I ran from my calling. I began experimenting with drugs and alcohol while in college. I continued to use and developed a severe addition. In July, 2014, I entered a month long rehabilitaion program and have been clean and sober since.
My eyes have returned to the Lord and I am renewing my mission journey. Through the Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, I have been placed at Little Rock, AR. There I will be doing disaster releif and solar energy education for one year.
