Laura Kate Gamble
I grew up in Summerville SC, where I am a member of Summerville Presbyterian Church. In December 2014, I graduated from Wofford College with degrees in Spanish and Biology, as well as a concentration in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. During my college years, I had the opportunity to work with a church ministry serving the local Latino community. As a volunteer, I spent my time riding bikes with the kids, reviewing their spelling homework and preparing snacks, while learning from the tremendous examples being set by the staff and community members. In the fall of my senior year, I had the chance to complete an independent study project examining the role of NGOs in communities in the developing world. That trip took me to Ghana, Tanzania, Peru and Haiti and provided even more examples of community minded leaders. I am thrilled to have the chance to learn from the Glasgow community, and I am thankful for all of those people who have made this year possible for me.
