Mara Sawdy
Hi! I’m Mara and I recently graduated from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. I graduated with a degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Peace Studies. Through these areas of study, I got to work with local residents through the ALLARM program taking local water quality samples and participating in the American Model United Nations Conference in Chicago. Both of these experiences gave me a desire to want to help not only on the local level, but on the global scale as well. This year I look forward to giving back to the world and help others in our nation's capital.
I found out about the Young Adult Volunteer Program through my college chaplain while I was working on my senior chapel. After doing more research, I became excited to have the opportunity to help people while growing in my faith. I am so thankful to have the support of my family, friends, and the West Newton United Presbyterian Church.
“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day,nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.” Psalm 121
