Sophia Har
Sophia Har is a 2015-2016 Young Adult Volunteer serving in Colombia. Drawn to conflict contexts and reconciliation efforts, she seeks to learn how the Church is responding to the conflict in Colombia. She looks forward to building relationships with her host family, exploring her new home and improving in Spanish.
Prior to joining YAV, Sophia worked as Communications Director at Jubilee USA and Advertising Assistant at Sojourners, both of which are faith-based advocacy organizations in Washington, DC. She graduated from Wheaton College (Ill.) in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in international relations and a minor in communication.
In 2010 Sophia spent a summer in the heart of Denver, CO, serving unhoused women and men and living alongside families in a transitional home. Her experiences transformed the way she approached the Gospel and showed her the systemic injustices of society. She continues to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and be an active community member wherever she lives.
Having moved several times throughout her life, Sophia is proud to call the Twin Cities her home. She loves to be active (preferably outdoors and in the sun), make music (especially with others) and try new foods (food is her love language).
