The Presbyterian Health, Education and Welfare Association (PHEWA), established in 1956 by action of the General Assembly, has always stood at the intersection of justice and health. With the core value of "nothing about us without us," our networks are committed to grassroots partnerships that bring everyone to the table: professionals, consumers, family members, and those passionate about these concerns. The result is ministry that is both collaborative and transformative.
PHEWA equips individuals and communities for lives of dignity and hope through the educational and worship resources, peer support, and public advocacy of our ten member networks. We offer our volunteer expertise to inspire, equip, and connect Presbyterians in the ministry areas addressed by our Networks, implementing actions of the General Assembly. PHEWA is a ministry of the Compassion, Peace & Justice Ministry, Presbyterian Mission Agency, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
Through your membership in PHEWA, you stay connected with others engaged in the ministries that mean so much to you, and you help to keep these ministries vital parts of the focus of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The PHEWA Newsletter is a place to share the good news of your ministry, as well as the challenges, and features practical information to use in all areas of social welfare and justice ministries.
